Masalah lingkungan dan Keracunan Bahan Logam/Metaloid Pada Industri

 A. Masalah Lingkungan Dalam Pembangunan Industri

Industri adalah merupakan suatu sektor yang sangat penting untuk meningkatan perekonomian nasional, karena dari industrilah pendapatan perekonomian nasional kita dapat meningkat, walaupun peningkatannya tersebut belum begitu besar. Selain itu Industri dapat menjadikan indonesia menjadi negara yang tidak bergantung lagi terhadap hasil produksi luar negeri untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri. Itulah mengapa indutri merupakan salah satu sektor yang sanagat penting dalam peekonomian.

Banyak Industri-industri yang dibangun oleh pemerintah kita untuk menyokong perekonomian Indonesia, namun dalam pembangunannya pemerintah dan pihak pengembang tidak memperhatikan lingkungan tempat dimana industri tersebut dibangun, seingga banyak sekali lingkungan-lingkungan sekitar proyek perindustrian tersebut menjadi rusak parah, ini akibat tidak bertanggung jawabnya pemerintah dalam memperhatikan kelestarian lingkungan.

Berikut ini merupakan masalah lingkungan yang terjadi di areal perindustrian:

1.       Udara disekitar industri menjadi sangat buruk, dikarenakan gas buang berupa asap membumbung tinggi di udara bebas.

2.       Daerah sekitar industri menjdi panas, ini akibat adanya peningkatan suhu yang ekstrim yang dihasilkan oleh gas-gas buang industri tersebut.

3.       Tercemarnya sumber-sumber mata air sekitar industri, akibat pembuangan limbah ke sumber-sumber mata air tersebut.

4.       Industri juga dapat mempengaruhi peningkatan pemanasan global (global warming), yang saat ini sedang dilakukan pencegahan agar tidak lebih meluas.

5.       Pembangunan industri dapat menyebabkan banjir karena kurangnya daerah resapan air, daerah-daerah hijau atau resapan air sudah berubah fungsi menjadi daerah perindustrian.

6.       Polusi suara yang dihasilkan oleh  deru-deru mesin produksi yang tak henti-henti, Polusi suara dapat membisingkan telinga warga yang tinggal disekitar areal perindustrian.

Itulah beberapa masalah-masalah lingkungan yang mungkin akan timbul jika adanya pembangunan sebuah industri disekitar kita.

Maka dari itu seharusnya sebelum membangun atau mendirikan sebuah industri yang mungkin dalam skala besar, terlebih dahulu memperhatikan beberapa prinsip-prinsip dalam pembangunan proyek industri terhadap lingkungan sekitarnya, prinsip tersebut adalah sebagai berikut:

1.       Evaluasi pengaruh sosial ekonomi dan ekologi baik secara umum maupun khusus.

2.       Penelitian dan pengawasan lingkungan baik untuk jangka pendek maupun jangka panjang. Dari sini akan didapatkan informasi mengenai jenis perindustrian yang cocok dan menguntungkan.

3.       Survey mengenai pengaruh-pengaruh yang mungkin timbul pada lingkungan.

4.       Berdasarkan petunjuk-petunjuk ekologi dibuat formulasi mengenai kriteria analisa biaya, keuntungan proyek, rancangan bentuk proyek dan pengelolaan proyek.

5.       Bila penduduk setempat terpaksa mendapat pengaruh negatif dari pembangunan proyek industri ini, maka buatlah pembangunan alternatif atau dicarikan jalan untuk kompensasikerugian sepenuhnya.

Demikianlah prinsip-prinsip yang dapat dijalankan sebelum mendirikan ataupun membangun sebuah industri, jika dengan benar-benar dijalankan akan menguntungkan kedua belah pihak baik pemilik industri tersebut ataupun warga yang tinggal disekitar industri tersebut.

B. Keracunan Bahan Logam/Metaloid Pada Industrialis

Banyak sekali kecelakaan-kecelakaan yang terjadi dalam melkukan pekerjaan disektor perindustrian, salah satunya adalah keracunan, dalam ulisan ini saya akan menuliskan keracunan bahan logam/metaloid dalam proses industrialis.

Racun-racun logam/metaloid beserta persenyawaan-persenyawaannya yang sering terjadi pada industrialis adalah berasal dari timah hitam, air raksa, arsen,chromium, berrylium, cadmium, vanadium dan fosfor.

Berikut ini penjelasan dari beberapa logam yang disebutkan diatas:

1. Timah hitam

Keracunan timah hitam (plumbisme) biasanya merupakan suatu keadaan kronis (menahun) dan kadang gejalanya kambuh secara periodik.  Kerusakan yang terjadi bisa bersifat permanen (misalnya gangguan kecerdasan pada anak-anak dan penyakit ginjal. Progresif     pada      dewasa).

Pemaparan oleh timah hitam dalam jumlah relatif besar bisa terjadi melalui beberapa cara:

Menelan serpihan cat yang mengandung timah hitam

Membiarkan alat logam yang mengandung timah hitam (misalnya peluru, pemberat tirai, pemberat alat pancing atau perhiasan) tetap berada dalam lambung atau persendian, dimana secara perlahan timah hitam akan larut

Meminum minuman asam atau memakan makanan asam yang telah terkontaminasi karena disimpan di dalam alat keramik yang dilapisi oleh timah hitam (misalnya buah, jus buah, minuman berkola, tomat, jus tomat, anggur, jus apel)

Membakar kayu yang dicat dengan cat yang mengandung timah hitam atau batere di dapur atau perapian

Mengkonsumsi obat tradisional yang mengandung senyawa timah hitam

Menggunakan perabotan keramik atau kaca yang dilapisi timah hitam untuk menyimpan atau menyajikan makanan

Minum wiski atau anggur yang terkontaminasi oleh timah hitam

Menghirup asap dari bensin yang mengandung timah hitam

Bekerja di tempat pengolahan timah hitam tanpa menggunakan alat pelindung (seperti respirator, ventilasi maupun penekan debu).

Pemaparan timah hitam dalam jumlah yang lebih kecil, terutama melalui debu atau tanah yang telah terkontaminasi oleh timah hitam, bisa meningkatkan kadar timah hitam pada anak-anak; karena itu perlu diberikan pengobatan meskipun tidak ditemukan gejala.

Serangkaian gejala yang khas bisa timbul dalam waktu beberapa minggu atau lebih, yaitu berupa perubahan kepribadian, sakit kepala, di dalam mulut terasa logam, nafsu makan berkurang dan nyeri perut samar-samar yang berakhir dengan muntah, sembelit serta nyeri kram      perut. Pada dewasa jarang              terjadi   kerusakan           otak.

Pada anak-anak, gejalanya diawali dengan rewel dan berkurangnya aktivitas bermain selama beberapa minggu. Kemudian gejala yang serius timbul secara mendadak dan dalam waktu 1-5 hari menjadi semakin memburuk, yaitu berupa:

muntah menyembur yang berlangsung terus menerus

berjalan goyah/limbung

kejang

linglung

mengantuk

kejang yang tak terkendali dan koma.

2. Air Raksa

Air raksa atau merkuri (Hg) merupakan suatu bahan kimia yang diperlukan dan dipakai oleh banyak industri seperti industri cat, pestisida, farmasi serta dipakai sebagai bahan campuran tumpatan gigi yaitu amalgam.

Keracunan air raksa seperti halnya dengan logam berat lainnya dapat terjadi melalui berbagai jalan antara lain melalui pernapasan, suntikan serta makanan dan minuman yang tercemar, ini salah satu bentuk keracunan air raksa yang dapat terjadi yaitu:

1.       Sebagai akibat air raksa cair atau uapnya

2.       Sebagai akibat kontak kulit dengan persenyawaan Hg-fulmitat

3.       Sebagai persenyawaan air raksa organis

Berhati-hatilah anda jika anda bekerja dengan menggunakan bahan kimia yang sangat berbahaya salah satunya air raksa.

3.Arsen

Arsen, arsenik, atau arsenikum adalah unsur kimia  dalam tabel periodik yang memiliki simbol As dan nomor atom  33. Ini adalah bahan metaloid yang terkenal beracun dan memiliki tiga bentuk alotropik; kuning, hitam, dan abu-abu. Arsenik dan senyawa arsenik digunakan sebagai pestisida , herbisida ,insektisida , dan dalam berbagai aloy .

Berikut ini adalah beberapa gejala yang akan ditimbulkan jika anda keracunan arsenik, yaitu sebagai berikut:

Kerontokan rambut: merupakan tanda keracunan kronis logam berat, termasuk arsen

Bau napas seperti bawang putih: merupakan bau khas arsen

Gejala gastrointestinal berupa diare:  akibat racun logam berat termasuk arsen

Muntah:  akibat iritasi lambung, diantaranya pada keracunan arsen.

4.     Fosfor

Ada banyak sekali macam-macam fosfor namun yang sangat beracun adalah dosfor jenis fosfor putih, dan fosfor ini banyak dipergunakan sebagai bahan pembuatan racun tikus, racun serangga, pembuatan pupuk, pembuatan mercon dan kembang api.

Akibat dari keracunan fosfor adalah sangat kompleks bisa menimbulkan kerusakan pada hati, ginjal, tulang, saluran pencernaan, pendarahan-pendarahan dan bila terhirup ke paru-paru bisa menimbulkan oedema dan keruakan paru.
